Rainboard

Rainbow Magazine’s namesake Bulletin Board System for the TRS-80 Color Computer. A collaboration with Dr. Lane P. Lester (1983-1984).

My first experience with academia was attending a Computer Users Group hosted at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg, Virginia. After the elders caught up on church gossip, we’d get down to the business of copying software around.

A professor befriended me and together we developed and published a bulletin board system.

At the time I did not fully understand the rules he was playing under when he chose not to credit me. He was also a geneticist with a Ph.D. from Purdue who handed me an official-looking journal article denying the premise of evolution. Odd inputs to a twelve year old’s mind.

When we released an update the following year, I put my name in the code listing itself. Lesson learned.

Dr. Lane P. Lester is an adjunct biology professor (online) at Regent University (founded by Pat Robertson in 1977 as Christian Broadcasting Network University). He is currently teaching at a community college and offers biology laboratory workshops to regional homeschool groups.

Only by ignoring the total implications of modern genetics has it been possible to maintain the fiction of evolution.
